CIPET 2010



The CIPET of the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology is an apex National Institution dedicated to Academic, Technology Support & Research (ATR) for the Plastics & Allied industries in the country. Government of India launched the first CIPET in 1968 in Chennai and subsequently 14 CIPET institutions were established by the Government in various parts of the country. At present 15 CIPET Campuses were present and they are located in Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Hajipur, Haldia, Jaipur, Imphal, Lucknow, Mysore and Panipat. They contribute to the ATR services to the industries both in India and abroad and have uniform infrastructural facilities in the fields of Design, CAD/CAM/CAE, Tooling & Mould Manufacturing, Plastics processing, Testing and Quality control.

Admission into the undergraduate courses is for all Indian and foreign candidates and it is made through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). M.Sc Integrated courses in Pure and Applied Sciences and M.Tech Integrated courses in some other disciplines are also provided by some of the IIT institutes. Some IITs even offer dual M.Tech degrees where both B.Tech and M.Tech degrees are awarded.

For eligibility the candidates should have passed 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 60% aggregate in PCM. For admission into the 5 ½ year incorporated M.Tech course in Biotechnology, the candidate is required to have biology or life science in addition to PCM. Candidates above 21 years are not allowed to compete.

The JEE has preliminary and main exam. Preliminary is of 3 hours duration and has questions from physics, mathematics and chemistry. Main exam has physics, chemistry and mathematics papers each of 2 hours duration.

Application forms can be obtained from any CIPET centers by Rs.400/- cash payment with a self addressed envelope of size 35 cm *25 cm stamped for Rs.50/-

The procedure for postal application is the same except that the payment has to be remitted through demand draft taken not earlier than 1st March, 2010 in favor of ‘Director General, CIPET’ payable at Chennai.

Last date for issue of application form is 4th June, 2010 and the last date for receipt of filled application forms is 11th June, 2010. Date of JEE is 11th July, 2010. Courses will commence from 16th August, 2010.
