Fashion is a booming industry which is providing career opportunity to people with diverse interests. Fashion journalists must be updated on international fashion trends to improve their professional skills and production of the Industry. The work involves both technical and non technical aspects.

Fashion Photography is an opening for the fashion sensitive journalists. In fashion photography they have to take care of all the inputs of style along with the fabrics, the stylists, the designer, the model, and the fashion photographer.

Fashion Journalist has to gather information about fashion and emphasize on the mechanics of expression, editing, sources of information, objectives and layout.

Fashion Photography is basically the advertising of clothes along with the environment according to which clothes vary.
To be an excellent photographer one must have intelligent, curious and perceptive mind but also needs some Equipment, training to be specialized in this field.

Work Environment:

Fashion journalist have to attend ramp shows to cover designer?s collections and present report about live shows, produce video films, take fashion photograph. They cover outdoor shoots due to which the work environment varies and may include working indoors and outdoors as per requirements.

Employment Avenues

Fashion journalists may work for newspapers, magazines. They may be employed with fashion houses of repute for building their profession career.

Study/Training

Fashion journalists generally have training in fashion merchandising or fashion design Institutes. Training in journalism helps to acquire the technical expertise of reporting/editing.
Bachelor?s Courses in Art (5 years) also offers specialized photography courses.
Photography as a course is offered by some institutions and universities. This is the 1 year diploma course which can develop the skills amongst the candidates.
