Joint Entrance Screening Test is conducted by a number of institutes altogether, for the students who are willing to do research programs in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science. The score obtained in this Screening test is considered by all of the institutes providing research based programs. After the consideration of the score, the short-listed students are called for interview for final selection.

Eligibility criteria :

The students who are currently in their final year and are willing to complete that before August 2009 are eligible to take the exam.
For Ph.D. Program (Physics):
? The one with M.Sc. in Physics or M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. in related disciplines.
? Candidates having M.Sc. in Mathematics and B.Tech (in Engg Physics/Applied Physics/Post B.Sc. Hons only) will be considered at IIA.
? For IPR, candidates should have a Masters degree in Physics, Engineering Physics, Applied Physics, etc. with at least 55% aggregate.
? The talented students of final year B.Sc. will also be considered for pre-selection at IUCAA.

For Ph.D. Program (Theoretical Computer Science):
? The students having degree in M.Sc./ M.E. / M.Tech. / M.C.A. in Computer Science and related disciplines and who are interested in Mathematical aspect of Computer Science.
? The talented students of final year B.Sc. / B.E. / B.Tech. will also be considered for integrated M.Sc.- Ph.D. course.
