JIPMER 2010 MBBS



The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research or JIPMER is one of the apex institutes for medical education in India. It is located in Puducherry, a southern Indian Union Territory. It is one of the oldest medical institutes started by the French Government as ‘Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry’ in 1823. In 1956 it was taken over by the Indian Government and then renamed as JIPMER.

The institute offers undergraduate, post graduate, super speciality courses and other paramedical courses to the aspiring students.

For eligibility the candidates are required to possess 12th standard pass with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with atleast 50% of aggregate in PCB (40% for the SC/ST.)

Selection is entirely based on entrance examination and personal interview. The exam pattern is posted in the official website of JIPMER. Reservations for appropriate candidates will be based on government norms.

Application forms were made available from 25th February, 2010 and the last date for the issue of application was on 8th April, 2010. Last date for submission of completed application forms was on 15th April, 2010 and the date of examination is 6th June, 2010.

Applications can be obtained by direct cash payment from the admission office. It can also be obtained by post by sending a demand draft in favor of Registrar, JIPMER along with a requisition letter. Application forms can also be downloaded from the official website for the institution.

The application should be submitted along with necessary documents and demand draft for Rs.350/- (Rs.250/- for SC/ST) drawn from a nationalized bank in favor of Accounts Officer, JIPMER, Puducherry, payable at Puducherry.
