JNU Combined Biotechnology Entrance Exam 2010



The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination is conducted for admissions to various Post Graduation programs in Biotechnology in JNU and many other institutes and universities of good repute in India. The no. of students applying for Post graduation through this exam is quite large. Thanks to its good reputation.

The courses for which this entrance test is applicable are as follows:

M.Tech in Biotechnology is available in three universities; Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata and Anna University located in Chennai.

M.Sc. in biotechnology is available in total 33 universities and colleges under their affiliation under both the national and state. This list also includes JNU.

M.Sc.Agri/M.V.Sc in Biotechnology is available in total 12 universities.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

M.Tech in Biotechnology:

An applicant with at least 60% in the qualifying exam along with a B.Pharmacy degree in Chemical Technology or B.Tech/B.E. in Industrial Biotechnology, biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, leather Technology OR an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, Life Sciences, Zoology, Biotechnology, Botany, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Microbial Genetics & Biophysics. (Also a B.Tech/B.E. in Bioengineering, Electrochemistry and M.Sc. in the case of Chennai’s Anna University; M.Sc. in Marine Biology, Marine Biotechnology/Aquatic biology & Fisheries in the case of Cochin University of Science & Technology M.Sc. in bioengineering in the case of Kolkata’s West Bengal university of Technology)

Application Forms

The forms can be obtained either by post from JNU by sending a demand draft along with a written request for the same. Another option is directly collecting the form from any of the participating universities or colleges.

One thing to be kept in mind here is that different courses have different forms. So one will have decide and then take the form for the course(s) for which he/she wishes to apply for.

Syllabus and Examination Pattern

There will be different papers for each of the three streams. Also, for the M.Tech in Biotechnology, there will be two sets of papers, one for the applicants from the Life Sciences stream, and one for those from the Technology stream.
