Joint CSIR-UGC Test 2010



Joint CSIR – UGC National Eligibility test is organized by both CSIR and UGC collectively for recognizing the eligibility of the candidates of India for Junior Research Fellowships and for identifying the eligibility for the lecturers’ appointments. This process of determining the eligible candidates is done in certain subjects under the science faculty.

Subjects falling Under the CSIR-UGC NET 2010:

  • Chemical Science
  • Life Sciences
  • Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences
  • Physical Sciences
  • Mathematical Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidates should have M.Sc. or equivalent degree under the relevant subjects.
  • The candidates should have acquired 55% aggregate marks (50% for reserved category).
  • Candidates who are appearing or have appeared in the final year of M.Sc. are also eligible.
  • The age of the candidate should cross 19 years but not more than 28 years are eligible for JRF (NET).
  • For the candidates applying for LS (NET), they should have age more than 19 years and no upper age limit is there.

Paper Pattern:

  • The test will be conducted in two parts.
  • Each section of the paper carries 200 marks.
  • Each part of paper is to be finished in two and a half hour i.e. the complete test is of 5 hours.
  • The candidate has to attend both the papers compulsorily otherwise it will be completely faked.

Examination Centers:

There are total 25 places all over the country as the examination centers - Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Karaikudi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pilani, Pune, Raipur Roorkee, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur and Varanasi, Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi.

Significant Dates:

  • Availability of Application Forms: 16th February, 2010
  • Last Date for the submission of Application form: 23rd March, 2010
  • Date of Examination: 20th June, 2010.
