Mathematician is highly skilled and usually works in operations research, numerical analysis, in computer systems design and software programming, information and data processing. Mathematician is highly needed in the field of aviation in aerodynamics, in applied physics, robotics, market research, population studies and commercial surveys, and in industrial research and development.
Person who has a combined degree of Mathematician and computer science is the one who is most suited for the jobs in data processing and interpretation and applied fields. Mathematics also offers the scope for teaching at the school and college level.
Mathematicians are in great demand in finance and actuarial work, encryption and computer applications along with applied Mathematicians work in the sphere of planning, industry, commerce, insurance, finance, medical, social and agricultural research using mathematical modeling and computational methods to solve practical problems arising in these spheres. Mathematicians also work in industrial research and development.

Statistician

Job of statistician is to collect the information and interpret on the basis of policies defined. The main job of statistician is to work on the data collected during survey. The demand for statistician is growing in the field of Marketing market research, retail banking, finance and insurance sector. Statisticians are required for scientific research, bio statistics and biopharmaceuticals. Statistical computing is becoming critical in medical research. Statisticians work with scientists and engineers in research and development. Consulting firms provide statistical analysts to firms which require constant data compilation and analysis. Statisticians are also required in fields such a bio informatics, actuarial science, demography and population studies, accountancy, stock broking and financial analysis.

Indian Statistical Service (All India service)

The Department of Statistics in the Ministry of Planning and Programme Implementation is the apex body for statistical work. ISS oversees the work of the Central Statistical Organisation (CSO), the National Sample Survey Organisation(NSSO), the Computer Centre and the Pay and Accounts Office. The Indian Statistical Service (ISS) almost annually offers limited number of vacancies in their cadre.

Eligibility Criteria:

? Candidate must have completed their Post Graduation with Statistics/Mathematical Stats/ Applied Stats.
? Candidate must be between 21 to 30 years of age to be eligible for this reputed course.
? Candidates have to appear in written exam conducted by the UPSC.
