Those candidates who have completed their graduation in Physics are qualified for Research and Industry jobs and can work in the field of computers, marketing, teaching, armed forces etc. Candidates can also opt for Post graduation in Physics after completion of graduation in physics. Study at post graduates require analytical thinking and must be good in mathematics. Candidate can also enroll in PhD program by applying for a Screening Test (JEST) for admission into reputed Institutes.

Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST)

JEST Entrance exam is conducted for admission into PhD program in Physics/Mathematics/Theoretical Computer Science, Mathematics/Theoretical Computer Science, Physics includes Theoretical and Observational Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics in Biology, Plasma Physics and Technology, Earth, Planetary, Atmospheric and Space Sciences, Condensed Matter Physics and Material Science at any of these following Institutes:

? Theoretical physics
? Mathematics
? Theoretical computer science

3. Institute of Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar
Courses:
? Physics

4. Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneshwar
Courses:
? Physics (condensed matter, atomic, nuclear and particle physics)
? Accelerator-based research

5. Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune

Eligibility Criteria:

Physics

? Candidates must have completed their M.Sc in Physics or M.Sc./M.E, M.Tech in related disciplines from the recognized university to be eligible for this course.

Mathematics

? M.Sc. in mathematics or M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech in any of the related disciplines to be eligible for this course.

    sir,
    i am persuing my M.SC in physics from the UNIVERSITY OF CALCUTTA.. SESSION - 2008-2010. I want to do my PHD. So how can i know about the entrance exam for PHD? and how to prepare myself for the same?

    I finished my m.sc(physics) in 2005,and iam interested to do P.hd (physics).Wheather iam eligible for doing P.hd(physics).I apply for Pondicherry university in 2009 ,but i didnot get hallticket for enterence exam.I came to dispointed. Please let me know .please send me the answer to me.
