Physics and Allied Fields Study Training JEST 2010



Students who have completed their graduation in Physics are qualified and can go for Research and Industry jobs and eventually can inn the field of teaching, marketing, computers, armed forces etc. They can also opt for Post Graduation in Physics. Students who want to pursue post graduation in this field must be good in mathematics and must possess analytical thinking. They can also enroll in PhD program by applying for a Screening Test (JEST) for admission into reputed Institutes.

Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST)

The joint Entrance Screening Test is conducted to give students admission into PhD program in Mathematics/Theoretical Computer Science/Physics which includes Theoretical and Observational Astronomy, Physics in Biology, Astrophysics, Earth, Planetary, Plasma Physics and Technology, Condensed Matter Physics and Material Science, Atmospheric and Space Sciences at any these given Institutes:

Physics (Astronomical instruments, Optics, Non-Accelerator particle Physics, Atomic Physics)

3. Institute of Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar
Courses:
Physics

4. Inter University Consortium for DAE Facilities (IUC-DAEF), Indore
Courses:
Physics (experimental condensed matter and synchrotron radiation)

5. Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune
Courses:
Physics


Astronomy
Astrophysics

6. Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore

Eligibility Criteria:

Physics

  • Candidates should possess M.Sc degree in Physics or M.Sc/M.E, M.Tech in related disciplines from a recognized university.
  • Graduates with B.E. and B.Tech are also eligible.

Mathematics

  • Candidates who have completed their M.Sc in mathematics or M.Sc/M.E./M.Tech in any of the related fields.
  • Candidates who have done their graduation with B.E./B.Tech are also eligible.

Selection Criteria:

  • On the basis of the JEST score selection will be done.

    sir,
    i am persuing my M.SC in physics from the UNIVERSITY OF CALCUTTA.. SESSION - 2008-2010. I want to do my PHD. So how can i know about the entrance exam for PHD? and how to prepare myself for the same?

    I finished my m.sc(physics) in 2005,and iam interested to do P.hd (physics).Wheather iam eligible for doing P.hd(physics).I apply for Pondicherry university in 2009 ,but i didnot get hallticket for enterence exam.I came to dispointed. Please let me know .please send me the answer to me.
