Pune University MCA 2010



The Master of Computer Applications course under the Pune University is conducted by the Computer Science department of the university. Every year an entrance test is conducted by the department to enrol fresh students to the MCA course.

Of the total seats 50% seats are reserved for the Maharashtra state candidates. As per the official information if you want to get any information regarding the MCA course under the Department of Computer Science then you need to browse the web address at http://cs.unipune.ernet.in/index.php

No student or applicant is expected to call up the office of the department for any further inquiry regarding the MCA course and relevant issues. To become eligible for the MCA course an applicant needs to complete his or her graduation in a science subject with the inclusion of mathematics in the 10+2 level. Moreover B.C.A passed candidates can also apply for the MCA course under the Pune University.

The entrance test paper will consist of questions covering the areas general aptitude, mathematics and English. All the questions will be of objective type.

The mathematics syllabus for the test will include the following topics:

1. Propositional logic: Formulation, deduction, evaluation, puzzles.

2. Co-ordinate Geometry and Conic Sections: Equations of lines and planes, vector products; definitions and properties of conic sections.

3. Differential Calculus: Total and partial differentiation, limit of a function.

4. Series and sequences: sum, mean, convergence, limit

5. Polynomials: solution of quadratic equations, properties of roots of polynomials with real coefficients, binomial expansion, Taylor series.

6. Elementary Probability Theory: Computing probability from combinatorial reasoning, conditional probability.

7. Set theory: Set operations, relations, functions.

8. Linear Algebra: Solution of a system of linear equations. Determinant and inverse of a matrix, basic properties of matrices.

9. Trigonometry: Identities, computation of heights and lengths.

10. Integral Calculus: Definite and indefinite integrals, solution of differential equations, computation of areas and volumes.

11. Real and complex numbers: surds, solution of equations on complex domain.

12. Permutations and Combinations.
