The SDPW or the South Delhi Polytechnic for Women is one of the apex institutes that offer various job oriented courses to the aspiring women of Delhi and surrounding areas. It is the oldest polytechnic college for women and it is established in the year 1963 and it has grown to one of the largest in the country. The institute is 44 years old and it offers 100% placement assistance to all its candidates. The institute trains the students for entrepreneurship and self employment. The philosophy and mission of the institute is to encourage everybody, especially the women and willing students. Many of the ‘drop outs’ and ‘failure’ candidates were absorbed into and the institute works for the welfare of those students.

The institute is placed in lush green campus of 2.5 acres of land offering outstanding facilities to the students. It has 26 departments and 30 job oriented courses with air conditioned campus and hostel. The institute lies in the legendary city of South Delhi along the banks of River Jamuna.

The SDPW offers courses in the field of Applied Technology like the Holistic Health and Fitness, Hotel Catering and Hospitality, Travel Tourism and Ticketing, Beauty, Cosmetology and Hair Styling, Advertising, Public Relations and Business Studies, Media Communication, Home Management, Home Science, Retail Marketing and Export Management, Fashion Journalism, Office Management, Computer Applications and Early Childhood Education.

In the field of Art and Design, the institute offers Event Management and Performing Arts, Jewelry Design and Manufacture, Fine Art, Print Art, Art Appreciation, Ceramics and Pottery, Photography, Art and Craft, Graphic Design/ Commercial Art, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Fashion Photography, Fashion Illustration, Fashion Management and Entrepreneurship, Garment Technology, Textile and Apparel Design.

In the field of Information and Technology, Computer science, 3D animation and Web Design and Animation courses are offered. Admission to all these courses starts in the month of July, 2010.
