TNPSC 2010



Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission or the TNPSC conducts examinations for selection of persons into various state Government services of Tamil Nadu. The service includes subordinate and ministerial services. TNPSC conducts around 170 examinations for selection for these services and the notifications are announced from time to time.

TNPSC conducts the Combined Subordinate Services Examination – 1 or the CSSE – 1 for direct recruitment for a number of Government services in Tamil Nadu. The services are divided into 2 parts and for 1 part oral and written exams are conducted while for the other only written exams are conducted. The number of vacancies varies depending on the availability and it will be mentioned in the notification.

For eligibility, the candidate should be between 18 to 30 years of age as on July 1st, 2010. Educational qualifications vary with the service and the details are available with the notification. Adequate knowledge in Tamil is considered essential.

The OMR Application forms were made available at all Head Post Offices and Selected Sub-Post Offices in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The forms can also be obtained from the TNPSC Office Sales Counter. Candidates can also avail the online application facility.

The Written examination is over in the last week of March, 2010 and only oral examination is pending. The written exam was conducted for 300 marks and of 3 hours duration. General Knowledge , General Tamil and General English were tested. The syllabus for the exam was made available in ‘TNPSC Syllabus’ tab in the official website. The oral examination will carry 40 marks.
