UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2009



Union Public Service Commission conducts an entrance exam for recruitment of the candidates in various Government jobs. All the candidates interested for any of the prescribed jobs can apply for that by filling the UPSC application form. After clearing the written test (preliminary), the candidate has to appear in interview and final selection list is declared after the commencement of the interview finishes.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Only the Indian national are eligible to apply for the entrance exam.
  • The age of the candidate should be equal to or more than 21 years.
  • The maximum age limit to apply is 30 years.
  • The candidates under SC/ST category are offered 5years relaxation in maximum age limit.

Important Dates:

  • Last date for receipt of completely filled application forms : 5th Jan, 2009
  • Date of commencement of exam : 17th May, 2009

Examination Pattern:

Their will be two rounds in the whole process:

  • In first round, Objective Type exam (Preliminary) will be conducted for all the eligible candidates.
  • This part would consist of 2 papers, which will carry 450 marks as whole.
  • In second round, only those candidates who successfully pass the round one will be considered as eligible.
  • This Main examination would consist of written test and interview.
  • The interview will hold 300 marks.
  • Final selection list will be declared after the commencement of the second round viz. written test and interview.

    I HAVE APPEARED FOR MY CLASS (C.B.S.E) XII EXAMINATION WITH (PCMB) AND I HAVE NOT MADE AN EFFORT AS PER MY POTENTIAL.NOW I HAVE LOST MY INTEREST IN STUDYING SCIENCE AND NOT APPEARING FOR ENTRANCE EXAM.I AM TOTALY CONFUSED.I THINK TO CHANGE STREAM AND TAKE UP ANY GRADUATE COURSE AND APPEAR FOR IPS ENTRANCE OR GO FOR MBA.BUT THEN WHICH COURSE TO OPT.AND I HAVE ANOTHER OPTION TO SET UP A BUSSINESS AND PURSUE GRADUTION ALONG WITH N ALSO PREPARE FOR IPS SIMULTANEOSLY.WILL IT BE POSSIBLE.WHAT SHOULD I DO.I AM NOT A DUMBO AND I HAVE DONE WELL IN MY PHYSICS AND MATHS EXAM ONLY STUDYING WHAT TAUGHT IN TUTION OTHER SUBJECT I DDNT HAVE ANY TUTION.

Do I qualify for age relaxation as of now while serving, under any clause. Further, I am a permanent resident of J &K and had been domiciled in the state of J & K during 1980 to 1989. Can I qualify under this clause for an age relaxation of five years.
